Editorial Policy
How we research, write and update this library.
Our guides and glossary exist to help Texas property owners understand their insurance. Here is how we keep them accurate and useful.
Who Writes It
Content is written and maintained by the Primesure team, an independent insurance agency in Texas that works with commercial property owners every day.
How AI Is Used
We use AI tools to help research and draft. A person at Primesure checks every fact against its source, and a licensed Texas insurance agent reviews each page before it is published. Nothing is published on autopilot.
Where Facts Come From
We rely on primary sources wherever possible: the Texas Department of Insurance, the Texas Insurance Code, the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association, FEMA and the National Flood Insurance Program, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and the Insurance Information Institute. Each guide lists its sources so you can check them.
Plain English, Carefully
We explain insurance in everyday language and use worked examples. Examples are hypothetical and simplified unless we say otherwise — real policies differ, and the wording of your actual policy and endorsements always controls.
What Our Content Is Not
It is general information, not legal, tax or financial advice, and it is not a promise that any coverage is available or applies to a particular loss. We do not name or rank insurance companies, and no insurer pays for or influences what we write.
Keeping It Current
Every page shows the date it was last updated. We review content when laws, programs or common policy forms change, and at least once a year.
Corrections
